Burning Saviours- Boken Om Forbannelsen [ I Hate; 2014]

What a wicked magic is going there ! Old-school hard rock band pretending to be a doom metal! Tony Iommi, Jimi Hendrix, Phil Lynott- look how your legacy sounds these days.
At it sounds pretty well ! When I saw the cover-art of the album (actually- compilation of singles) I was expecting slow and epic doom, under the influence of bands like Reverend Bizarre. So just imagine how suprised I was, when I heard classic rock, with a little blues feeling. Well, lated is actually started to be more “doomy”, but as I said before- Burning Saviours are rockers! Even slow and epic songs (Midnight) are taken straight from the 70’s. And that’s fine to me - Sweds made really awesome job. Compositions, riffs, solos- everything is a travel back in time- aroun 30-40 years since now. But- let’s put one thing clear: it’s not a good album, it’s a great one. Nobody is trying to discover America here- crew from Orebro taken everything from the roots and gave new life to old, pre-metal patents. That opinion goes also with their sound- it’s taken straight from the times, when Black Sabbath’s first album saw daylight.
So that album was a really pleasant suprise to me. Totally different than I expected. I think that proper cover art for this album should be two-headed dragon. One head goes for rock classic, second one for doom metal
