Ratt- Infestation [Roadrunner; 2010]

I never liked Ratt and bands which play similar music to them. Actually- the only gam bands that I’m able to listen to are Motley Crue and Twisted Sister. So just imagine how sceptical I was about this album. But to be honest- Infestation was a nice surprise to me. Well- it’s not the album that I like and can honestly call a good metal record- but I expected a total disaster and it appeared to be not THAT bad.
So maybe let’s start from the best thing here- guitar solos. It’s the first Ratt album with Carlos Cavazo (ex- Quiet Riot) on guitar, and you know what? He made a great job here. Good lead parts gets extra boost from really nice sound (which is a bit strange, because the sound during the riffs is annoyimg here. Let’s put it strange, we’re metalheads, we need to hear devil’s breath coming out from the instruments, not nice, radio-friendly guitar sound).
About the songs? Well- we all know how Ratt is playing. Typical glam songs. I don’t like and get this type of music, but I suppose, that they’re doing a good job here. What’s new here is the fact, that band took a lot of inspirations from late Alice Cooper’s albums (“Look Out Below”). If I ever want to listen glam I’d rather pick Motley Crue, TS or old Skid Row, totally not my piece of music. But for hair metal fans? I think you’ll enjoy new Ratt album.
