Manilla Road- Voyager [My Graveyard Productions; 2008]

Manilla Road’s Voyager became an instant-classic album just after being released. I don’t think, that anyone is surprised by that fact- that Manilla’s name has always been a guarantee of high quality epic metal.
But from the beginning. The best thing in this record is it’s absolute variety. It’s like we’ve got here a summary of all previous band’s albums. They don’t try to discover anything new this time, now we’ve got a voyage through around thirty years of band’s past. What’s more- I think that Mark Shelton has felt second youth during this album- he sound so fresh as years ago. Especially, that this album has been recorded without Hellroadie, so Shelton has a bit more duties here than usually he had. Everything here is played with a great, epic atmosphere, but it’s not a surprise, when we’re talking about Manilla Road. Every single part here is a brick, which builds this massive heavy metal monolith. Actually, no matter how hard I try- I can’t find any bad thing about this album. Personally- I found “Tree Of Life” as the best song on this record.
So what more can I say? To be honest, this review could be full with only two words- “Manilla Road”. Ladies and gentlemen, they’re still strong. Even through the years, Shelton’s work never get any older.
