Claustrofobia - I See Red [Voice Music (Brasil)/ Candlelight Records; 2009]

Even if probably the most popular Claustrofobia’s album in this part of world is Fulminant- I See Red always was my favourite one.
At the beginning I have to mention that so far it’s the best sounding album of these Brazilian death/thrashers. Heavy guitars, a lot of aggression, full power. Great, very mature yet brutal compositions are strike from the beginning. Opening track- “Discharge” suggest us that there will no be mercy on that album. Fast drumming, heavy riffing and Marcus’ great growl gives us a great album overall. Claustrofobia is still close to their own style, reminding me a bit Krisiun mixed with Sepultura from “Beneath The Remains” era. You’ll witness it by yourself by checking out title track from that album, a powerful shot of violence right between the eye.
But to be honest- I can’t call “I See Red” an easy album. I have to listen to it couple of times before I get how good is it. But it’s worth taking a shot. It’s a very intense CD material and a lot happenes in Claustro’s music. Other thing which is worth mentioning are great guitar solos ! Alexandre De Orio is doing amazing job here ! What more can I say? “I See Red” is a piece of solid death/thrash metal. Maybe it’s not a 100% oldschool music, but it’s still really good one. Personally- I really enjoy it.

P.S. Claustrofobia is having their 20th anniversary tour this year. In may you can see them in some cities in Poland
