Amazed at their ebut material released five years ago (“Roots of Ancient Evil”), I have been impatiently waiting for the new album of DETHRONED CHRIST. These guys did take their time but, hell, it was worth waiting. “Only Death Shall Remain the World” is one solid piece ofevilnessthe way I like most. It starts with a 4 minute intro and the first track “Feed to the Lions” appears.
The intro itself puts us in a very pompous, almost epic atmosphere with very obvious influences of GreekVARATHRON or NECROMATIA.With the very first sounds of “Feed to the lions,” all Hell breaks loose. This fast, very dynamic track with a huge dose ofhellish rock n roll fucking flogslike hell – it destroys and annihilates everything there is. Numerouschanges of tempo, and extraordinary expression presentin this trackare really impressive. Another nail in the wretched body of Christ is a track with a cool sounding name “Necromancy.”This song is exceptionally massive.
The march-like, groovyrhythm in the beginning of this song blends with Infernaljerks like some Hellish Beasts were attacking unaware little souls. There are many atmospheric slow-downs or guitar complexities a `la BATHORY that later turn into massive wrath hitting all that is sacred.  Very diverse in changes, this music does not bore with monotony of the blasts. “Praises” is another destructive cut – vomited vocals like coming from the blackest hell paralyses with its inhumanity, marvelous guitar ornaments create a beautiful atmosphere to explode with unrestricted fury shortly after.
Brutality is mixed with atmosphere, it all is very deeply rooted in the old school sauce. That`s what does please an obscure soul!“Master of Death” is just an A league track, this rhythmic song does not lack energy or melody, that’s for sure. The guitar work here is just fucking amazing. DETHRONED CHRIST is very skillful at mixing brutality and atmosphere in perfect proportions. With every next track, my jaw just goes down more and more. The drums are also noteworthy - plenty of tempo changes – the drums sound very acoustic. There is no plastic sound here! This track must crush everything when played live, that’s for fucking sure. I can just imagine this mayhem in front of the stage!
Ok, so next comes “Fragments for a Dying World,” that starts with a real storm. There are plenty of DARKTHRONE-like slow-downs and galloping drums. This is so damn energetic! When you listen to “Only Death Shall Remain the World,” it is easy to imagine that one of the Gates to Hell is located in Brazil. This is where Satan influences the maniacs` dreams so that they can make music like this when they wake up. On the other hand, “Only Death Shall Remain the World” is a bit more melodic track when compared with others. The keyboards in the background remind of these of FALKENBACH`s. Its use makes this album more diverse. Next comes “Under the Bridge of Hate (May the Weak Die on Cross)”. After a break, DETHRONED CHRIST delivers some condensed wrath and hatred to all the sacred pictures of false god and his son. All ends with a 6 minute outro. I won’t deny this album impressed me as fuck. When it was over I was just sitting and couldn’t believe my ears. What a fucking awesome piece of music this is!
