ONSLAUGHT- VI CD Spiritual Beast 2013

After their spectacular “Killing Peace,” and slightly less lethal “Sounds of Violence,” the right time has come for another attack of this British band, who apparently seem to be feeling young again. “VI” is an album played in a very light and subtle way; unfortunately ONSLAUGHT has lost their old school nature, and in result what we can hear here is modern thrash metal.
It all is played very well, but the old atmosphere is gone. This is why some older fans of ONSLAUGHT might have problems with this album. There are no connections with “Power from Hell” or “The Force” – my two favorite records of this band. Anyway, it is hard to expect this band to remain stagnant. Would be awesome though, if ONSLAUGHT could refer to their past more, where they used to blend Punk, Speed Metal and the Devil himself. Well, were this album more “dirty,” it`d be more acceptable?
BeforeIreviewed this album, due to the respect I have for this band, I decided to listen to this album a couple of times. It didn’t help at all, because this new ONSLAUGHT does not please me in the least. When played live, these tracks are lethal, but they surely sound “dirtier” and more aggressive. Here, it all sounds too clean, too sterile. Ok, there are some nice parts on this album, and “IV” is really well produced, but it’s not enough to kneel before this stuff. If you have the Japanese version of this album, there are two bonus tracks: “Shellshock” and “Metal Forces”.
