CETI- BRUTUS SYNDROME CD METALMIND PROD 2014

Let’s face the truth- Grzegorz Kupczyk is the best singer in the history of polish heavy metal. No doubts about it. Since the moments he recorded his vocals for the very first time in legendary Turbo- he’s the god behind the microphone.
Right now it’s time for another album of his solo band CETI. And what we’ve got here? At first- great vocals, but it’s obvious. Grzegorz’s voice is pure perfection. Instrumentally we’ve got a classic heavy metal, this time with more Iron Maiden inspirations than previously (especially in “Wizards Of The Modern World”). What is also significant- “Brutus Syndrome” has a great sound- gitars are deep as hell, great drums, nice, hearable bass. Studio work was made perfectly.
But it’s not a perfect album, the worst things here are keyboard. Totally unnecessary and to “sweet” for that kind of music. Every single part here would sound much better without them. But actually that’s usual mistake in heavy metal- 99% of bands that uses keyboards would sound much better without it (propably the only exception is Savatage). And compositions- they are good, but sometimes there lack of, hmm… let’s call it “soul”. There are great parts, that reminds me that heavy metal is running through my vains, but there are some parts that sounds like a craft. Too bad, some parts of “Brutus Syndrome” should be delated, they are much worse next to the great riffs.
So let me conclude everything- it’s a good material, with killer sound and AMAZING vocals (Kupczyk always the best!). Unfortunetly, there are some unnecessary things here, but “Brutus Syndrome” is still a really strong album ! Wojciech Michalak
