There have appeared a number of bootlegs containingSARCOFAGO demos present on the metal market. Frankly, besides an official compilation “Decade of Decay”featuring a number of demo tracks, alongside studio ones,released back in 1995, there`ve not been any official releases of this kind. Luckily, Cogumelo Records, which have copyright ownership of all SARCOFAGO stuff, realized they`re in possession of these materials and finally put these demos on cd. Also, this album contains the tracks which were initially planned to have been released on a 7`` together with #6 Oldschool Metal Maniac.

Thus, this disk has 20 selected tracks, including unique versions where vocals are performed in Portuguese. The only disadvantage of this compilation album is that these demos are incomplete – just a number of chosen tracks. Hem, on the other hand, it`d`ve been very difficult to putt all the demos on one cd. The digi cd has a 16 page beautiful booklet with some unpublished pictures which completes this release totally. The first 8 tracks are two rehearsal sessions with same tracks, but in slightly different versions: „Intor Da Sathanas” „Nightmare” and „Third Slaughter”.

The next four tracks are a full version of the first official demo “Satanic Lust”. The next track comes from the band`s second demo “The Black Vomit”. Sadly, there are no other tracks from this demo on this cd. Another gem is the title track INRI (in the rehearsal version) as well as the complete demo “Christian’s Death” from 1987. Alas, the rehearsal from 1989 is missing. Well, there is another demo track titled “Alcoholic coma”. “Secrets of a Window” is another track that has been taken from the demo 91 before“The Laws of Scourage” was released. The last one is the instrumental version of “Satanic Lust”.

Well, on one hand this stuff looks very interesting. On the other,however, there is something missing here. I gather it`d be a good idea to release all SARCOFAGO demos in accordance with the time periods these demos were releaed. Well, anyways, it is awesome this cd “Die Hard” has been finally released. I do hope this is not the last official SARCOFAGO material. You know, just the interest for this cd alone shows how hungry people are when it comes to the rareSARCOFAGO stuff. This band is just iconic when we talk about the Brazilian scene of the 80s.

Although the band itself has been dead for the last 15 years, their cult is still alive. The phenomenon of SARCOFAGO does not fail to impress. Their art becomes more and more popular among young fans, who,with sheer pleasure,want to listen to their material. SARCOFAGO just mean savagenessas well asSARCOFAGO means real and uncompromising extremity. For ever will SARCOFAGO be associated with untamed aggression reflected in both the band`s music and member`s everyday life. This simple and honest music has been, and still is just overwhelmingly “destructive”. This music has always been phenomenal and despite the fact that it has been many years since these tracks were recorded – they are still fucking awesome. LWS
