DEMONIC TEMPLE (Pol.) - Demonic Temple (2014) - Under the Sign of Garazel Prods.

Well, I received this release in its original format, i.e., a professionally designed tape, what made me promptly feel nostalgic about the time when tapes were our only way to know the underground scene. Only this aspect could be enough for me to write a positive review on their stuff, but they go beyond this and present much more than a nostalgic release in this demo. Demonic Temple comes from Poland and make that typically cold and raw black metal that comes from all dirty basements all over the international underground. In other words, a fucking harsh black metal, jut the way it should be!

The demo starts with a solemn opening, which gives way to the first notes of the self-titled song "Demonic Temple", with a slow-paced beginning that soon becomes more violent and agonizing, oscillating between the doom-like atmosphere and the fast extreme parts. The vocals are a blend of deep voice with that rabid black metal accent. "Open the Book of Magic" follows the same formula, increasing the speed but also showing tormenting slow moments that are made to invocate all the demons who live inside us, as well as "Flames inside me", whose title sums up the feeling of internal fury liberated by the music produced by Demonic Temple. This song has also some catchy melodic parts in the middle that bring a melancholic feel, certainly one of the flames that may burn inside these guys. The last song, "Darkness", is another proof of their musical consistency and loyalty to the spirit of orthodox black metal, som ething that will surely bring them lots of die-hard satanic freaks.

The general result of such an evil brutality is something that could be compared to the old school black metal bands from South America, like Sarcófago or Mystifier, for instance, with the obvious Nordic mood that is essential for the genre. There is nothing inappropriate here or that make they sound strange to the roots of 90's black metal and if you are into this kind of harsh music, you can try Demonic Temple with no hesitation. So, another great band from Poland to honor the blackest devils that come from this country, whose contribution to extreme metal is almost unbelievable since the 80's.
