EVIL EXISTENCE (Pol) - DEATH WORSHIP DEMENTIA DEMO(2014) - Independent release

When one decides to tread the hard path of metal/punk, there are lots of different directions to follow, indeed, but some of them choose the blackest and most obscure ways to go ahead, and this seems to be the case of the Polish Evil Existence. Although, there are lots of technological resources available, they decided to take the rawest way to make their lo-fi brand of satanic metal ion this excellent and crude demo-tape. In order to check these elements that show their option for the absoloute underground, it is enough to take a look at the front cover of this tape, which looks like it was taken straight from those old school notebooks and made with black pen in the last sheet of paper, such is the anti-technological attitude they adopted. It is everything simple, but effective at the same time.

As for the music, you can wait for that old brand of black metal, which was way more similar to hardcore punk than to metal done before the second half of the 90's. I'm surely referring to a time when Venom, Bulldozer, Poison (Ger), Bathory, Hellhammer and other like-minded freaks dictated the rules of extreme metal, bringing their influences from the rawest punks across the world and putting them together with a metal attitude and a satanic approach. So, everything here sounds as if Evil Existence were at their rehearsal room recording their session directly into the tape recorder, with absolutely no signal of a single studio trick, leaving microphonies ando other noises present in the recording, considering them as a natural part of the music. Guitar riffs are simple and punkish, as well as the drums, showing no concern for technical juggling, and the vocals, which sound as crude as Poison's at their earlier demos from 1984!

Their songs bear names like "Malevolent Curse" and "Infant Evisceration", so that you can imagine what is their lyrical thematic. They also bring a very interesting cover by the masters of obscurity - the mighty Von! - option that definitely marks their option for raw metalpunk, instead of following the sterile modern clean-sounding metal of these days. It's important to say that all this noise was done by only two guys, Ketzer (drums), and Lord Vomit (guitar, bass and vocals). So, if you are not worried about any fancy recording and crystal-clear production, this is totally for you! Great release, pals! I'm already waiting for a new tape soon! Cristiano Passos
