Ok, pals, now it’s time to metal, pure metal! No room for tidy clothes, make-up excesses, high-skilled musicians or stylistical innovations: only the most genuine metal with the most primitive and rawest approach possible! Well, those who already know Abigail are well aware that these guys take the metal philosophy in a very strict and serious way and so, it is enough to see their name in the cover of the release to be sure that you are going to find true metal only, nothing else! More than that: you are going to listen to top-notch metal from Asia and will bang your head till your neck hurts to death.

The Japanese are the first to come and their proposal is clear: fuck our ears in the most delightful manner, something their first riffs already succeed here. In fact, when you least expect it, the music is on and the chaos takes your body in full with the vigorous “Blood Sathanas”. This song brings all that we like in metal: those harsh guitars sounding like the first Venom albums, some hardcore influences (in my opinion, by the way, there would not be extreme metal if its roots were not in punk/hardcore!) and that straightforward language which admits no time for unnecessary technicality from show-off jerks. “We are true evil” keeps the same atmosphere and contributes to breaking the neck definitely! It’s impossible not to get emotional listening to this gem of old school metal! Shrieking vocals, fast riffs, insane drumming and heavy bass, that’s all we need and that’s all Abigail has to offer us, pals! Simply the best!

After this massacre, when you think you’ll have a break on the emotional flux, you are immediately surprised by this great band from South Korea called Nocturnal Damnation, about which I’ve never heard until this day, but whom I loved since the first chord! With a more death/black metal approach, using growling vocals, low-tuned guitars and faster drums, these guys impressed me a lot! Their music has that savagery which could make them to be compared to explosive acts like Deiphago, Morbosidad, Genocide Shrines or Disforterror, and although they aren’t as fast as these ones, they show the same crazy and noisy energy. Nocturnal Damnation sounds evil and surely contribute to make Asia one of those lands where metal gives birth to the more hideous creatures in the history of the genre. Tracks like “Anneliese Death Ritual” and “Dominion of Antichrist” clearly depict this unsettling, but simultaneously alluring, musical bestiality.

Summing things up, thanks to Putrid Cult we may feel financially poorer now, because this split album is another must released by these crazy Polish label. Just go for it and open your ears to this Asian combo of death! Awesom! Cristiano Passos
