This stuff brings good memories. Always has. I can still remember when I get this material in the tape format, right from my friends from Oswiecim. They even created a small label to release Moon Silver Mask – Damned Productions. And I still hold this tape in my collection.
Back then, cds were truly rare, unlike vinyls, but there were plethora of tapes, for sure. Every time I would play that tape, I wished it should be released in the vinyl format. Damn, and this stuff was released 24 years ago. Time flies indeed.
So dreams come true, though it indeed takes years. Under The Sign of Garazel have re-released this demo in the cd and vinyl formats where, beside Angel Wind and Devoted for Darkness, we get a bonus track titled The Dark Warriors (we know this one from Obscurity). And yes, even after so many years, this stuff still impresses; it is like a blend of early SAMAEL (which is rather primitive) and theatrical atmosphere of CELTIC FROST`s Into the Pandemonium.
Moon Silver Mask is a good kind of introduction to TARANIS` music transformation we know from Faust. A different and surprising, no doubt about it. TARANIS did not record too many materials, but remains remembered as some sort of Polish underground`s soothsayer, a truly innovative band at the time they were active. LWS
