When I came across this name, at first, I thought it was some sort of “CELTIC FROST type”of music but I was wrong and get to tell you this stuff isn’t disappointing at all. Just the opposite. In short, MEGATHERION explores different waters of dark music. Indeed, these six tracks are marked with black metal and its atmosphere is mostly influenced by the mid-80s,Teutonic thrash metal. The guitar sound is kind of similar to EURYNOMOS` - which comes as no surprise as both bands share mutual members: Atheonand Magma. Well, the guitar sound is the only common denominator here, I tell you. As this mcd`s music is totally different. Still, both bands recall what we can brand ol` good days of metal, that’s for sure. Simply, this is archaic, primordial, evil and alluring! And combined with Carnivore’s vocals – damn rough too! Simple, not too sophisticated riffs kill. The music is pulsating with something evil and menacing. It is like a stroll among catacombs and in dungeons – beside hearing your steps you can feel there is something lurking in the dark, something unearthly. You can almost sense the presence of devil in these tracks, I am serious. I like devil so I enjoy these tracks too! I will tell you these tracks are catchy and even charming so to say and make you want to re-listen to this album again and again. It is some sort of pleasant possession which makes you more and more interested in this stuff. This is a short cd – a mere 20-minute-long journey into infernal paths and devilish realms. This is not enough I think! That’s why this stuff ought to be played on repeat; this musicdoesn’t get tiresome. This music is powerful – get this mcd as soon as possible! 666.
