MARTWA AURA Morbus Animus cd 2020 (UTSOG/Putrid Cult)

Poland`s MARTWA AURA isn’t too keen on recordingexcessive amounts of stuff and this approach is what I consider rather positive. In result, their releases are well-elaborated, well-rehearsed and devoid of any elements that are commonlyreferred to as “fillers”. In other words, best value for your money, and this criterion ought to, in my humble view, be most important when summing up whether a particular release is worth having. Simply, it must be good if you feel like spending 10 euro or so ona particular album. Am I wrong in this matter? Don’t think so. First off, this album has a fantastic, cold sound which matches the music itself perfectly. Very cosmic like (or space-like, if you like) as if you could gaze into the immense darkness of stellar void. Nice. The songs are expertlyconstructed, with plenty of sub-ideas woven into their main structures and this is why this album seems so rich and mature. Just blast this a couple of times. This is, by definition, black metal, all right, but I can hear some subtle, minute yet powerfulinfluences coming from early/mid KATATONIA/OCTOBER TIDE. You know this “Rain Without End” kind of melancholic tint. It keeps you interested in this album and thus these 34 minutes seem too short when you`redone withMorbus Animus. Well, that’s pretty much it, so go grab this cd from UTSOG/Putrid Cult or the band themselves since this album is damn great!!!
