I have never been too much into this kind of stuff, to be honest, since I`ve always been of opinion that it is just better to listen to original releases than tributes, but hey, let’s give thisBang Your Heads for Gehennaha whirl, shall we? Ok, so what we have here is twelve bands (some from Poland, among others) - MOLOCH LETALIS, OFFENCE, RIOTOR, RAGEHAMMER, STILLBORN, AXECUTOR, WARFIST, HATE THEM ALL, PAGANFIRE, EXCIDIUM, EMPHERIS, WHIPSTRIKER and twelve songs of alcohol-fuelled thrash, originally executed by GEHENNAH from Sweden. GEHENNAH was the band consisting of some death metal dudes back in the mid-90s (like VOMITORY, DAWN OF DECAY, to name but a few). GEHENNAH`s music is good, catchy old-school metal…the featured bands did a real good job interpreting Swedes’ songs from various albums; yeah, no doubt this sort of underground music is best re-enacted by other underground, dedicated crews. I must say I love OFFENCE`s Bang your Heads for Satan best. Of course, other participants did well too, no complaints. What I also like about this release is the layout, the booklet, a really nice and thick one with plenty of “stylish” photos. And this empty “Zytnia” vodka bottle is just a perfect match for these peculiar, “booze`ish” Poland/Sweden relationships; you know, you can see in your mind’s eye these GEHENNAH`s Swedes on a ferry from Sweden to Poland, amassing duty-free booze to get tanked like there’s no tomorrow…death and destruction!
